This is an URGENT COVID-19 Update! The Hidalgo County Health Department has confirmed an additional 13 COVID-19 cases, bringing our active total to 53 positives. The Individuals include 2 females in their 20’s, 4 males and 1 female in their 30’s, 2 males and 2 females in their 40’s, and 2 males in their 50’s. Due to the quick rise in cases, It is extremely important that we take every precaution to keep our families safe and healthy. This is an Urgent Notice! The Hidalgo County Health Department has confirmed an additional 10 COVID-19 cases, bringing our active total to 27 positives.  We are also reporting the loss of one of our own. The Individual was a male in his 70’s. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and their loved ones. Hidalgo County Judge the Hon. Richard F. Cortez, has also issued an updated County Order Related to the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency.  Due to the rise in cases, It is extremely important that we take every precaution to keep our families safe and healthy. Correction to the Original Post: This is to clarify that we have a total of 5 positive cases of Covid-19 as of 06/30/20…Not an additional 5 cases, as was previously reported. 

The cases were reported as  follows:

3 on Wednesday 06/24/20; 1 on Friday 06/26/20; and 1 on Tuesday 06/30/20 

The previous 13 residents testing positive have been released.

To the Residents of La Villa, Texas,

The City of La Villa will begin distributing face masks to any citizens within La Villa city limits and our ETJ. Face mask distribution will take place at La Villa City Hall beginning June 15, 2020 at 1pm until supplies last. We ask that any residents who may be interested in face masks to please stop by City Hall during regular operating hours. Face masks will be distributed according to the number of people residing in the household. We ask that you wear a face mask/covering when coming by City Hall to claim your masks.

Additionally, we would like to inform you all that the Census 2020 is still ongoing, and we ask that all of our citizens get counted by completing the Census application. The census may be completed via phone, online, and through paper form. City Hall staff is available to help those who are looking to fill out their Census 2020.

Effective July 1, 2020, the City of La Villa will begin implementing the 10% late fee and will be disconnecting all delinquent water accounts. If any arrangements need to be made please contact our Billing Clerk to prevent any service interruption.

To the citizens of La Villa, I have been informed by the Hidalgo County officials that we have an additional confirmed COVID-19 (Corona Virus) case in our town, a 48 year old male. This brings the total to two cases in La Villa. The county is following all procedures and protocols to identify potential carriers that might have been in contact with these individuals. Please continue to practice social distancing and other preventive measures as recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Please continue to stay home and remain calm.
